Wall Paintings
I think that the biggest challenge for an iconographer is the painting of a church.
In the beginning without the colours of the murals all the interior walls are white. There are huge surfaces which the iconographer has to put in an artistic order. The most important thing is the proper study of the architecture of the church in order to achieve a perfect harmony with the completion of the final painting. The iconographer has to combine all the different parts of the painting in order to be connected with each other and the colours must be in complete harmony. When someone enters the church upon viewing the final result of the murals he must feel harmony, peace and reverence.
